The Possum's Pecker Band is a two-man acoustic act, that gives audience's all the good ol' country songs that are not often heard nor any longer appreciated as well as a new mix of locally appreciated artist. This includes Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Jr., and some newer artist such as Robert Earl Keen, Pat Green, and Reckless Kelly to name only a few. The band members, Shane McGrew and Jory Blagden, have been performing together since 1999. The PPB is a well experienced band with many years of performances under their belt. They've played on everything from flatbed trailers miles from town to their latest performance at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar in Oklahoma City while opening for the No Jake Brakes Band. |
The PPB has had the pleasure to open for Baxter Black, to entertain at Oklahoma State University banquets, local rodeos, restaurants, and night clubs all over central OK. Armed with only acoustic guitars, vocal chords, and a sense of humor, the PPB can do it right. Whether the times call for music to which conversations can be overheard or large venues where music is the main attraction, the PPB is your band. With the reputation of not taking breaks, the PPB keeps good driving country coming all night long. By also adding a little humor into the act, the patrons are usually very pleased and excited when the PPB returns for a second visit. So don't be afraid, they only bite if you ask them to.
After opening for several national acts, Shane decided to leave Fishin' Naked, a band of which he was a member from '94 to '98, and pursue a solo career. He released his debut compact disc “Singin' Around the Campfire” in February of 1999, and performed solo regionally. He also performed with the local Stillwater band “Hippie the Cowboy”, which later became “27 Ends”. As a member of the bands, Shane contributed lead and harmony vocals, rhythm guitar, and fiddle. He is true to country and Americana music and his influences include Merle Haggard, Roger Miller, Willie Nelson, and Waylon Jennings. He is now married and is a 8 th grade Science teacher in Edmond, OK. He coaches 8 th grade football, boys and girls basketball, and baseball.

After being ditched by women for other guys that always seemed to play the guitar, he decided that in order to get the “big score”, he must learn to play. Shortly thereafter, in 1999, a guitar was purchased and lessons began. Within a year, the two were performing together in local venues in Stillwater and later the “Possum's Pecker Band” was formed. He later made the “big score” by writing a song for his now wife of over 3 years. “It worked, I knew it would. Dudes with guitars get chicks. That's a fact.” He now is an electrical engineer at a Stillwater, OK based electronics manufacturer when not on stage making jokes about Shane. He also enjoys long walks on the beach, little puppy dogs, and flowers for valentine's day....ya...right. Big trucks, guns, fishin', Harley's, four-wheelers, and campfires are more his style. Cowboy's love fat calves....get it...calves? Never mind..... |
